Marion K. Parsons
Marion Kathleen Parsons is an accomplished family law attorney with nearly 15 years of experience. She earned her Juris Doctor (JD) from Wake Forest University School of Law and sat for the North Carolina Bar in July of 2010. A glutton for punishment, she then sat for the Oregon Bar in February 2011. She is licensed to practice in both North Carolina, Oregon, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina as well as in the Eastern Band of Cherokee Tribal Court.
During her time at Wake Forest University School of Law, Ms. Parsons was a member of the American Association of Justice (“AAJ”) Trial Team, where she focused on expert examination and partnered with Wake Baptist for training. After graduation, she continued to share her knowledge and skills by co-coaching her own trial team.
While Ms. Parsons practices in all family law areas, her focus is complex custody cases and the intersection of abuse allegations, child protective services, and child custody. She has served as a parent defense attorney for almost her entire career and has also represented the Department of Social Services.
In recognition of her expertise and contributions to the field, Marion was selected as a Fellow with the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Ms. Parsons maintains her certification as a specialist in family law by the State Bar of North Carolina. She has been nominated by Super Lawyers Rising Stars for five (5) consecutive years. Currently, she is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association (“NCBA”) Family Law Section and serves as a member of the NCBA Family Law Council.
In addition to her family law practice, Ms. Parsons offers consulting services for trial work and complex custody matters involving allegations of abuse, neglect, and/or domestic violence. Ms. Parsons assists clients as well as other legal professionals whose cases involve complex issues including companion criminal matters, custodial evaluations, parenting capacity evaluations, psychosexual evaluations, psychological evaluations, child medical evaluations, and voluminous or conflicting medical records.
Alongside her legal work, Marion is committed to giving back to her community through her work. Since founding her practice in Asheville in 2011, she has engaged provided pro bono legal services for parents. Additionally, she volunteers for high school mock trial, serving previously as the served as the Regional Coordinator for high school trial teams, trial team coach, and volunteers during mock trials.
Prior to her legal career, Ms. Parsons loved dedicated her time to studying ballet and rode for her college equestrian hunt seat team. She continues to prioritize health and fitness as an avid runner. Parsons Law proudly sponsors various sports teams and events for running, tennis, soccer and more.
When not working, Marion enjoys spending time with her two beloved dogs: Titan, a French bulldog, and Odin, a Cane Corso. She would say she prefers the company of any dog to that of any human.
